If you have some information or historical pictures to add please send them to me at . This is definately not a finished product, check back for updates as I find more information! I will create this document as if you were going along the trail with information at each location from past to present, enjoy!

GPS information

Loon Lake

1957

This picture was posted at Pirate4x4.com by Rockcrusher

Wentworth Springs

This is the original trailhead of the Rubicon Trail. Click HERE for a great history of this area.

1980 circa

Thanks to Ron "The Tech" for this picture..
This building has long since fell down.

Gate Keeper

This is a hint of the trail to come, if you have trouble here you might want to turn around and head home...

2004

This is actually just past the actual gatekeeper or before it if you are coming back out of the trail

Walker Hill

1997

The area just past this picture and just before has changed quite a bit over the years..

Soup Bowl/Soup Kitchen

Both of these are fairly new as far as the history of the trail goes.

1980 circa
1997
2004
You can't really make it out here, since it didn't exist..
Pre-Kitchen..
This is one of my favorite spots - sometimes you walk right up and others it "no soup for you"

Little Sluice

One of the most talked about spots in four wheeling without a doubt is the Little Sluice on the Rubicon Trail.

1968
1980 circa
1998
I saw this picture on the wall at the air compressor store in sacramento and asked the guy if I could have a copy. He threw it in the copy machine and that's what I got - sorry for the quality..
Notice the signs on the old tree
You just don't see too many stock full size trucks going through there anymore..
Notice the vegetation and dirt..
This is sometime around the 30th Jeepers Jamboree

I took this sometime in the late 90's

Toyota Rock

This is the escape to the little sluice, or a bypass.

1997
This is just to the right of the sluice - the "escape"

Spider Lake

This is adjacent to the little sluice - great lake for a canoe, or to dive off the rocks from..

2003
There is a plaque on the rock pretty close to where this picture was taken to check out..
I got this picture from Mark aka Rubicrawler, amazing photo at spider at dusk

Old Sluice aka Middle Sluice

This is a great place to camp, there is some old historical mining equipment across from the dam. Although I haven't actually been in it there is supposed to be a tunnel leading all the way back to Loon Lake back there as well..

2000
2004
This is "the rock"
This is one of the sections that you can bypass

Buck Island

This is a great place to camp, there is some old historical mining equipment across from the dam. Although I haven't actually been in it there is supposed to be a tunnel leading all the way back to Loon Lake back there as well..

2004
I'm looking for a better picture but this was take from the trail near the lake..

Big Sluice

This leads into Rubicon Springs.

2004
Traffic is common on busy weekends here, this was the weekend of the Rubithon I believe..

Rubicon Springs

1920's
2004
A travel brochure from the 1920's posted up at Pirate4x4.com by Rockcrusher

I have an picture of the old bridge I need to add..

Cadillac Hill

1980 circa
This phots courtesey of rokzuki.com. This is called "V Rock" and is on cadillac hill

The Car Wash

1980 circa
I don't even know where this is.. My dad took this picture around the 30th Jeepers Jamboree, I guess for environmental reasons this is no longer part of the trail.

"The "Car Wash" is on the Tahoe side and had a wood bridge built over it in 1984ish" - Doug Barr, posted on the pirate4x4.com web site

Observation Point aka The Lookout

2004
This is more less the end of the trail - located at the top of cadillac hill.

Unknown spots - if you know where these are please let me know!

My guess would be near Buck?
