2007 INTERNATIONAL AUTO SHOW

CHP Helps Kids at 2007 Sacramento International Auto Show

Sacramento -- The Kid Zone at the 2007 Sacramento International Auto Show will be the largest ever this year, thanks to an ongoing partnership with the California Highway Patrol. The Auto Show takes place November 9-12 at Cal Expo, and its expanded Kid Zone will now take one whole building in Expo Center. In addition to featuring the Tyke Trike Track and other free children's activities, the Kid Zone will also have a CHP display aimed at keeping children safe through Child ID Cards. Parents can have a free identification card created with their child's vital statistics. This information can save law enforcement critical time in the event a child ever goes missing.

Also in the Kid Zone the CHP will be demonstrating proper installation of child safety seats and booster seats. "It is unfortunate how many responsible, caring parents improperly install a child safety seat or booster seat in their vehicle, with sometimes tragic results. Learning how to correctly install both types of these seats can definitely save lives," stated an official with the California Highway Patrol. At the CHP display parents can register to win a free child safety seat and a booster seat courtesy of the Central Valley New Car Dealers Association.

The Kid Zone will also feature free children’s games, activities and movies. Also available is a concession area where parents can sit down and relax, have snack and a cup of coffee and watch their children have fun. The building is also a registration point to win a 42 " widescreen television and the location of the “Cubed Car” – a rectangular hunk of metal that was once an automobile. By guessing the make, model, year and miles of the “Cubed Car” – one lucky person will win $1000. Admission to the Kid Zone is free with purchase of an Auto Show ticket.

The 2007 Sacramento International Auto Show is presented by the Central Valley New Car Dealers Association. Auto Show tickets will be on sale at the door only. Admission is $9 for adults, with children under 12 free. Two-dollar off discount coupons are available at participating Central Valley New Car Dealer Association members and area 76 Gas Stations. Auto Show hours are: Thursday, November 9 and Friday, November 10, 11:00am-9:00pm; Saturday, November 11, 10:00am – 8:00pm; and Sunday, November 12, 11:00am – 6:00pm. Auto Show proceeds benefit the Professional Automotive Training Center Foundation -- a joint project of the Central Valley New Car Dealers Association, American River College, Cosumnes River College and Sierra College -- as well as other local causes.
